Genoa - In the third quarter of this year, net sales for the Swiss logistics group Kuehne + Nagel amounted to 4.7 billion Swiss francs (€4.1 billion), up 14.9% from 4.1 billion Swiss francs in July-September 2016. EBITDA came to 286 million Swiss francs (+5.9%) and operating income to 233 million Swiss francs (+4.5%). The group closed the third quarter of 2017 with a net profit of 184 million Swiss francs (+4.0%). In the maritime shipping segment alone, where the number of shipments handled came to more than 1.1 million TEU containers (+8%), net revenue came to 2.3 billion Swiss francs (+18%), while EBITDA and EBIT fell by -7% and -8% to 115 million Swiss francs and 110 million Swiss francs, respectively. In addition, net revenues generated by air freight shipments increased significantly to 1.8 billion Swiss francs (+34%) and EBITDA and operating income from these activities amounted to 81 million Swiss francs (+7%) and 76 million Swiss francs (+4%). The volume of air shipments handled was 391,000 tonnes (+21%). In the land transportation segment, net sales were close to 1.1 billion Swiss francs (+10%), EBITDA was 18 million Swiss francs (+50%) and EBIT was 7 million Swiss francs (+600%).
