Genoa - According to an estimate by ISFORT for Conftrasporto-Confcommercio, the economic damage to road haulage companies alone caused by the extension of the routes through the Genoa node after the collapse of the Morandi Bridge amounts to about €600,000 per day.

The report will be presented at the next International Conftransporto Forum in Cernobbio on 8 and 9 October. This figure represents the sum of the increased costs of route deviations made by vehicles typically passing on the bridge in both directions of travel.

According to Conftrasporto, however, if negative effects on the journey times of vehicles serving the port, and more generally, of vehicles passing through the Genoa node are taken into consideration, “the daily increase in costs rises to about €2 million.”
