Genova - The Italian government, at least the Northern League, supports the bilateral agreement with China and above all the role that Genoa can play. Edoardo Rixi, Deputy Minister for Transport, welcomes the mixed company between the Port Authority of Genoa and CCCC, the Chinese construction giant. Rixi accurately restricts the perimeter within which the company and its composition will work: “Having a public body partner of the third manufacturer in the world, is a guarantee for Italy. But I think that the Authority will have to hold the majority of the company “. The new company will have to be interested “exclusively in the design of infrastructures and support: so, for example, when we make the new dam, we can keep in mind the parameters that are technically useful for Chinese ships to bring other container traffic to Genoa”. No direct construction of infrastructures, “because there are already Italian companies”.
It is a question of using Chinese know-how on the construction of large infrastructures. The Italian government wants to rebalance the Silk Road and approves the project of the Authority of the port system Authority Paolo Emilio Signorini and of the mayor Marco Bucci because the agreement wants to allow Genoa to access the Silk Road: the project’s barycentre has moved on Trieste, where the Chinese have concentrated their sights. The North East port should sign an agreement that includes Asian investments in the railway sector. The Italian-Chinese society with the port of Genoa instead, would also allow the North West to play a primary role.
