Genoa - In 1947, the shipping agency Medov opened its doors, positioning itself at the centre of the growing cruise sector: 70 years later, the shipping services company based in Genoa has expanded, diversifying and becoming one of the largest shipping and travel agencies in the cruise and cargo sector in Italy and France, as well as a leading logistics agency operating from North America to Singapore. Medov’s rapid diversification began after its acquisition by the Genoese Schenone family in 2004: “Medov’s success and longevity are due to our ability to create value for our clients, making the most of our competition and our network of strategic commercial partners,” Giulio Schenone stated. Schenone is Medov’s president and C.E.O.: “To celebrate our seventieth anniversary this year is an exciting achievement, and our steadfast commitment to anticipating our clients’ demands and expectations will allow us to continue to grow and have success in all the sectors of the shipping industry.”
Logistics services, which range from North America to Europe to Singapore, include maritime, aerial and ground shipping, brokerage, customs, careening and new construction, and special projects. The travel agency also covers tour operator services - with exclusive tours in Italy and France, and the Roma Express train.
In January 2017, Medov opened the shipping agency CostaMed Ship Services, a cutting-edge joint venture with the Genoa-based Costa Group, the parent company of Costa Cruises and Aida. From its headquarters in Savona, CostaMed Ship Services will manage over 1,100 of the Costa Group’s ships in 26 ports in Italy and France. In the context of the celebrations of its seventieth anniversary, Medov will organise various special events throughout 2017, which will be announced soon.
