Hyunday Heavy achieves 90% of 2018 order target

Seoul - Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, the world’s largest shipbuilder by sales, said Monday it has secured 90 percent of its annual order target of US$13.2 billion, writes South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

Hyundai Heavy has recently received an order to build two liquefied natural gas carriers from Consolidated Marine Management Inc. (CMM) in Greece for $370 million, the company said in a statement.

The deal has brought the shipbuilder’s overall orders so far this year to 139 ships valued at $11.8 billion, it said. The Korean shipbuilder has affiliates that include Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co.
