Genoa - Mariano Maresca, the maritime agent who held top positions in various Italian shipping trade associations for over three decades, has died. Among the other posts he held, he was president of the Genoese maritime agents’ association from 1971 to 1974 and from 1976 to 1977, president of Federagenti, the national federation of maritime agents, from 1976 to 1983 and president of The International Propeller Clubs from 1986 to 2015.
Federagenti pointed out that remembering only the presidency of the Federation or that of Assagenti for Maresca “would be very little for a man who has been one of the most important points of reference for the entire Italian shipping world for decades. We remember Mariano Maresca’s unstoppable energy and his ability to represent our category, that is, ship brokers, but also the entire maritime cluster, in which he was such an important figure.”
The President of The International Propeller Clubs, Umberto Masucci, and the President of The International Propeller Club Port of Genoa, Giorgia Boi, expressed deep sadness at Maresca’s death, along with their respective boards, which pointed out that Maresca was a point of reference for the entire propeller community and the maritime cluster.
