New funds for Calabria’s ports

Reggio Calabria - The Region of Calabria, the Regional Consortium for Production Activities, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Port Authority of Gioia Tauro have signed an intergovernmental agreement designating the port infrastructure system to be of international importance

Reggio Calabria - The Region of Calabria, the Regional Consortium for Production Activities, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Port Authority of Gioia Tauro have signed an intergovernmental agreement designating the port infrastructure system to be of national and international economic importance.

It accounts for investments in port operations totalling €74.9 million: Gioia Tauro (€16.5 million), Reggio Calabria (€6.5 million), Vibo Valentia (€18 million), Taureana di Palmi (€4.5 million), Corigliano Calabro (€12.9 million), Crotone (€9 million), Villa San Giovanni (€5 million) and for electronic surveillance in the Strait of Messina (€2.5 million).

Of the total amount, €60 million will come from the Region out of development and cohesion funds and €14.9 million from the Port Authority of Gioia Tauro.
