Genoa - The new training operation for unemployed youth in the maritime cluster - ports and logistics - was introduced at Genoa Smart Logistic. The operation was financed by the Region of Liguria through European Community funds (European Social Fund); the selections for the programme’s four courses will begin in September 2017 and February 2018.
The primary organisation involved in this operation is AS.FO.R, Associazione Formazione Ravasco, alongside agents, ship’s brokers and freight forwarders, Assagenti and Spediporto, and Forma Mentis, the Genoese training organisation. Two major Genoese terminal operators are also participating, Sech and VTE.
With a total of 2,600 hours of training provided and 52 students trained, Smart Logistic will prepare trainees for four professional roles: Logistics Manager (800 hour programme), Administrative Freight Operations Staff Member (600 hours), Yard, Ship, and Rail Planner, and Computer Terminal Operator (both 600 hours). In 2016, the For.mare programme, Smart Logistic’s older sibling, trained 52 young people, achieving a rate of employment of about 80% of the participants.
